Abstract

548,021. Concrete building construction units. WALLER, J. H. DE W., and BOWEN-COLTHURST & PARTNERS, Ltd. March 24, 1941, No. 3959. [Class 20 (iv)] Building units 12 consist of concrete plastered on fabric stretched between parallel angled supports, one limb 12a of each support constituting a wall element and the other 12b a roof element. The fabric sags both lengthways and crossways, the depression being deepest at tne angle of the unit where also the concrete is thickest. The supports are flanged for attachment to each other, and formed at*one end with a ridge piece or flange. In building a hut, a number of units 12 are set up side by side, the opposite ends at the roof ridge being bolted together, and the joints caulked. The units are secured together by bolts 20, Fig. 6, to form a structure as shown in Fig. 4. Reinforcing rods may be used at 9 and 10, and wires 14 embedded in the concrete.
