Abstract

613,390. Baling-machines. REFFOLD, G. June 20, 1946, No. 18509. [Class 94 (i)] Hay, straw, paper, fibre &c. are fed to baling press by a riciprocating carriage 6 with spaced pivoted strakes 4 co-operating with stops 25, 26, the strakes feeding the material along a chute 1 as the carriage advances, and then falling forwardly so as to slide under the material as the carriage retreats. The carriage is reciprocated by a link 10 connected to a rod 11 operated by a crank 12 and actuating the ram 21; the rod 11 also acts through link 19 to reciprocate a head 17 which displaces a charge into a space 20 ahead of the ram 21. Tie wires are fed into grooves 22 of guide 23, and advance with the charge. Stop 26 may be pivoted and controlled by spring 27, and a snap-over device comprising arm 29 and spring 30 may be provided to hold the strakes in either limiting position.
