Abstract
612,979. Securing lids to containers. MILES DRUCE & CO., Ltd., and EARNEY, J. E. June 12, 1946, No. 17635. [Classes 21, 66 and 125 (iii)] A metal clip, for securing the outwardly flanged edge of a dished lid 4 to an oil drum or like container 2 having a projecting peripheral rim 3 around its opening, comprises an arcuate channel-like member 1, the sides 5, 6 of which are adapted to engage respectively below the projecting rim 3 of the container and above the edge of the dished lid, the upper side 6, being provided with a number of projecting portions 8 of preferably semi-circular shape which can be bent down into contact with the dished lid, the length of the metal clip being such that two or three such clips will extend around substantially the major portion of and preferably the complete periphery of the container. The container may be fitted with a handle so that, when empty, it can be used as a bucket. Specification 551,247 is referred to.
