612,660. Trousers. BLANKENHORN, C. May 29, 1946, No. 16297. Convention date, June 13, 1945. [Class 141] A device for altering the girth of the waistband of trousers of the kind having separate front and rear waistband portions 2, 4 is characterized in that at each side a strip 5, fixed to the rear portion 4 on the outside and at a distance from its ends, passes through a keeper 8 at the end of the front portion 2 and forms loop 6 which is adjustable by a buckle 7, the free ends of the rear portion 4 each having a strip 9, which is alterable in length, attached thereto to keep them stretched forwardly. The side seams of the trousers are left open from the waistline to a short distance below the belt and each strip 9 passes through a keeper 11 fixed to the inside of the portion 2 and forms a loop 10 which is regulated by means of a sliding buckle 12. Alternatively the strips 9 may be elastic and the keepers 11 and buckles 12 omitted. In another modification, the buckles 12 are omitted and the free end of each strip 9 is fastened to one of the buckles 7. In a further modification, keepers 11 and buckles 12 are omitted and the free ends of the strips 9 are connected together in front of the body by means of button fastenings or a buckle.
