Abstract
612,474. Optical objectives. ROSS, Ltd., and COOK, G. H. May 24, 1946, No. 15836. [Class 97 (i)] In an objective of the type shown comprising two simple positive components enclosing two meniscus doublets concave to a central diaphragm the doublets comprise negative and positive meniscus lenses cemented together and (a) all six lenses have refractive indices greater than 1.65 ; (b) the refractive index difference at cemented surfaces in not greater than 0.04 ; (c) the AbbÚ-V values for the outer positive components are greater than 53 and in the doublets the positive lenses have a greater V value than the corresponding negative lenses; (d) the focal length of one of the positive components is between F and 2F and that of the other between .5F and 1.5F where F is the focal length of the whole system; (e) the focal length of one negative component is between 1.5F and 2.5F, while that of the other is greater than 2F.
