612,218. Hinges. BATE & CO., Ltd., J., and FISHER, S. N. May 20, 1946, No. 15135. [Class 65 (ii)] A hinge for two pivotally-connected parts comprises a lug 4 on the part 1 received within a recess 5 formed in an outer surface of the part 3. A block 6 is detachably secured by a screw 8 in the recess alongside the lug and is provided with an integrally formed hinge pin 7. The recess is formed with an arcuate base accommodating the lug and with slightly diverging side walls, one of the latter constituting a limiting face to determine the fully open position of the part 1 which, as shown, forms the lid of a domestic wash boiler. In respective modifications, the hinge pin is formed integrally with the lug or floats with its opposite ends engaging aligned holes in the block and lug respectively. In a further modification, a fixed or loose hinge pin projecting from the lug is engaged in a semicircular bearing recess formed in the block.
