Abstract

611,788. Paper and like bags. LAMSON PARAGON SUPPLY CO., Ltd., and SHEPPARD, R. W. May 8, 1946, No. 13931 [Class 94 (ii)] In the making of a bag 5 of paper, or the like, shown, one or more reinforcing strips .6, 7 are applied to the web 12 from which the bag is made. The bag may be of the type described in Specification 454,113, the hand-holes 8 and securing tongues 9, 10 being formed through the reinforcing strips. These may be inside or outside the bag. In Fig. 4, parallel rolls 6, on the same spindle, on which one roll is loosely mounted, feed strip material over a gumming roller 18 and around a guide roller 15, which presses the strip 6 and the web together. The reinforced web passes on to the usual bag making machinery. To secure the bag, the top part is folded over, at the line 11 and held by the tongues 9, 10. Any usual adhesives, such as. rubber, thermal or pressure-setting plastics, may be used.
