611,214. Washing filter plates or screens. WORTH, T. C., and BRITISH FILTERS, Ltd. June 15, 1945, No. 15297. [Class 138 (i)] [Also in Group I] A filter plate or screen is cleaned by movement thereof downwardly in a tank containing cleaning liquid, during which it is sprayed on both sides with cleaning liquid and is then passed between a pair of rotary brushes rotatably mounted on the tank and wholly or partly immersed in the liquid. In the construction shown, a tank 1 is provided with plates 17, 18 for guiding the plate or screen down between spray pipes 21 and rotary motor-driven brushes 2. The brushes are supported by trunnions 5, having ball-bearings secured to the tank walls. In the use of the apparatus the plate or screen may be moved up and down by hand during cleaning. The tank may be fitted with a plate suspension means, including an adjustable weight for counterbalancing the weight of the filter plate.
