Abstract

841,966. Washing vehicles. BOOTH, M. B. Feb. 11, 1959 [Nov. 12, 1957; Aug. 1, 1958], Nos. 35169/57 and 24810/58. Class 138(1). Vehicle washing apparatus has a pipe structure comprising a U-section 5 having perforations 2 for directing jets of water and/or other cleaning material against a vehicle 4 thereunder, the structure being pivoted at or near its lower part so that it may be tilted to move the jets forwardly or rearwardly over the vehicle 4. Water supplied through a pipe 22 receives detergent from a container 26, and the cleaning mixture is passed by a branch 23 to the U- section 5 and also to a lower U-section 6, which conducts the mixture to the other side of the U-section 5. In its tilted position the pipe structure is counterbalanced by a spring 19. Handles 21 are provided to facilitate tilting of the structure. In a modification, the pipe structure is provided with a counterweight and is tilted by gearing operated by a handwheel.
