Abstract

611,062. Potato diggers. WHITSED, W. J. Nov. 14, 1945, No. 30411. [Class 6(iii)] A potato digger of the type comprising a digging share 1 and an elevator 2 at the rear of the share is characterized by having at each side of the lower front end of the elevator and in advance of it, a side plate 5 extending forwardly of the share and a shoe 7 at the front of said plate for raising straggling haulms. A vertical roller 6 assists in passing the raised haulm rearwardly to the elevator together with the lifted potatoes, the plates 5 preventing potatoes and haulms falling over the side. Share and side plates may be adjusted together or independently.
