Abstract
610,868. Needle-guards for gramophone pick-ups. PHILIPS LAMPS, Ltd. April,17, 1946, No. 11787. Convention date, Nov. 17, 1941. [Class 40 (ii)] A needle-guard for a gramophone pick-up consists of a member 14 pivoted at a point 16 and having a U-shaped part 19 which, under the influence of a spring, is normally held in a position to encompass the needle-point 15. When the pick-up 10 is lowered on to a record 12 moving in the direction of the arrow 13, the member 14 is moved in a plane at rightangles to the needle, and allows the needlepoint 15 to be gently lowered on to the record 12.
