[Classes 122 (i) and 122 (v)] [Also in Group XXVIII] In a pneumatically or hydraulically operating cylinder comprising a barrel 1 into the internally threaded ends of which are screwed flanged end caps 2, 3 having no part extending beyond the external diameter of the barrel (see Group XXVIII) and a piston 4, the latter is provided with a pair of annular grooves into which are sprung oppositely disposed rubber &c. channel section rings 9. A similar single ring 10 is located in a recess in the cap 3. The flanges of the rings 9, 10 are pressed apart by the working fluid.
