Abstract

609,661. Tempering shoe parts. MANFIELD & SONS, Ltd., and JONES, P. J. M. HARRIES-. March 20, 1946, No. 8590. [Class 17(i)] A small apparatus for effecting the tempering treatment of shoe parts is positioned adjacent pulling-over, side lasting and end -lasting machines and at stations at which lasts are inserted in slip lasted shoes and comprises an enclosed cabinet having a liquid bath in a lower portion and work-supporting means, such as trays or racks 25, in its upper portion. An atomizing device comprising a spray gun 9, operated by compressed air controlled by a .valve 15, and to which is connected a suction pipe 11 which dips into the liquid bath, as shown, draws liquid from the bath and expels it in atomized condition beneath the work-supporting means in a direction substantially parallel to the surface of the liquid in the bath. One or both .sides of the cabinet are provided with hinged doors 27, 29 to give access to its interior.
