609,655. Glazing. SOC. ANON. DES MANUFACTURES DES GLACES ET PRODUITS CHIMIQUES DE ST. GOBAIN, CHAUNY, & CIREY. March 19, 1946. No. 8567. Convention date, April 18,1944. [Class 20(iii)] A window glazing consists of tempered, &c., glass cut to fit an opening and having individual attachments 2 seated on and adhesively secured to the edge 1a of the glass as integral parts for securing the glass in the opening, the opposite faces of the attachments lying in or between the planes of the faces of the glass. The attachments 2 may be of the same thickness as the glass and connected to the edge, or secured in a recess 4 in the edge with which it is flush or from which it protrudes as in Fig. 2 or may be recessed to fit into a recessed body portion 7 and attached to that body 3 by bolts 8, as shown in Fig. 4. The edge of the glass may be metallized by projecting pulverized molten aluminium on to the heated edge, and coppering, and the attachments then connected by soldering. The attachment may be of soft metal about a fixing piece more suited to riveting, or may be of thermoplastic and cemented by synthetic resin. A complete frame 2, as in Fig. 10, may be soldered to the edge of the glass and set back from one surface so that when the glazing is attached to the body 3 the outer surfaces are flush. Windscreens may be connected to hinges by protruding attachments.
