Abstract
609,547. Furniture frames and joints. SAVAGE, H. W. and LEITHEAD, J. W. March 15, 1946, No. 8135. [Class 52(ii)] Furniture such as sideboards, dressers, &c. constructed in parts which may be packed and transported in " knock-down " form comprises horizontal frames such as at the top and bottom of the part of the sideboard &c. to be closed by drawers or doors and the corner posts formed with angled cuts in the inward corners into which cuts the frames correspondingly angled fit snugly, shoulders also abutting the posts, the frames and posts being rigidly secured by nails &c. driven through the frames into the posts. The posts are formed with diagonal cuts C at the top and at suitable distances from the top in accordance with the depth of drawers, doors, &c. The horizontal frames comprise front and back rails D having angled cuts G and shoulders F, H to fit and bear on corner posts and end panels L and cross bearers O provided with tenons N engaging in rabbets M in the rails. The corner posts A are also provided with a rabbet I for the tenon K of the end panels L. The frames are secured to the corner posts when assembled by driving a screw or nail diagonally through the rail and bearer and into 'the corner post.
