Abstract

608,627. Vehicle wheels. DEGERFORS JARNVERKS AKTIEBOLAG. Nov. 5, 1945, No. 29390. Convention date, Dec. 11, 1944. [Class 144 (i)] In a railway wheel of the kind described in Specification 629,887, in which the tyre is welded, without substantial shrinkage, to a disc body, the latter is now formed of S- or other waved profile so as to provide considerable flexibility in the wheel. Fig. 1 shows a wheel disc having a pronounced bowed portion 2<SP>1</SP> welded to the hub 3 and tyre 1 at 4, 7 respectively. Fig. 3 shows a modification in which a separately-formed rim 5 is welded to the disc 2 at 9, the flanged inner edge 5<SP>1</SP> being welded to the tyre at 7, and the outer edge of the rim engaging an undercut flange 6 at that edge of the tyre.
