Abstract

608,604. Magnetic clutches. STEVENS, A. H. (Eaton Manufacturing Co.). Aug. 3, 1945, No. 20023. [Class 35] [Also in Group X] In a vehicle ventilating apparatus (see Group X), air impelling means 6 are operatively connected with a power take-off from the vehicle engine by a constant speed electromagnetic clutch. This may comprise two spaced discs or rings 34, 35, Fig. 1, one of which carries the coil 36, and a rheostat 40 may be used to control the supply of current to the coil. In another form, Fig. 3, the clutch, which may be housed in a portion of the air impelling means, comprises a housing 90 connected to the power take-off and freely mounted on the impeller shaft 84 to which is pinned a rotor 91 carrying the coil 92.
