Abstract
607,700. Bottle caps. AMERICAN SEALKAP CORPORATION. Aug. 29, 1945, No. 22221. Convention date, Nov. 11, 1942. [Class 125(iii)] [Also in Group V] A paper screw-cap, moulded from a pretreated blank (see Group V), comprises a central diaphragm portion 66 and a depending annular skirt 64 having solid, raised screw-threads 65 formed integrally on the inside face thereof, the outside of the skirt being substantially smooth, and the paper in the skirt and threads containing a binder and being in a homogeneous, seamless, interfelted condition, and denser and harder than the rest of the cap. The cap may be used as a liner for a rigid, outer shell 80 of glass or other mouldable material, or a thin paper cover may be provided, secured by adhesive and strengthened by a band of tape or heavy paper wound around the skirt. A sealing compound such as animal glue or plasticized thermoplastic material may be inserted in an annular recess in the inner surface of the diaphragm, or the cap may include the usual disc liner of treated paper or other material.
