607,545. Mining-machines. CINCINNATI MINE MACHINERY CO. Feb. 7, 1946, No. 3933. Convention date, May 10, 1945. [Class 68 (i)] The cutter-carrying chain links of a mining- machine are provided with spaced lugs 6 between which is fitted a bit holder comprising a shank 8 and a head 9 with a socket receiving a diamond-section bit 14 which bears against a cross-pin 11; the head 9 bears against one lug 6 and an abutment piece 16 bears against the other, the piece 16 having a groove receiving the end of the bit 14 and also side ears 18 engaging recesses 13 in the head 9. Adjustment of a screw 7 causes rocking movement of the bit holder to lock the bit. The arrangement is reversible. Rectangular washers 20 may be inserted.to adjust the height of the bit.
