Abstract

999,432. Mineral-mining picks. AUSTIN HOY & CO. Ltd. April 11, 1962 [April 13, 1961; May 11, 1961], Nos. 13386/61 and 17286/61. Heading E1F. For the securing of a pick in a pick holder there is resiliently secured in a transverse recess 16 in the shank 14 of the pick a detent 17, which normally projects outwards from the recess and co-operates with a cam surface 25 in the shank-receiving socket 13 of the holder so that insertion into is easier than withdrawal of the pick out of the socket. A further form of part ring detent to that shown is described as well as a pin transversely disposed of the recess and mounted in a resilient cylindrical bush disposed in the recess, the bush being more resiliently from the pin in a direction towards the head of the pick than from the pin in the other direction.
