Abstract
607,240. Condensers. SPORING, P. A., BENTLEY, N. H., and TELEGRAPH CONDENSER CO., Ltd. Jan. 29, 1946, No. 2844. [Class 37] A condenser, particularly for television, comprises interleaved pairs of sheets of metal foil and dielectric wound round a tubular former 2 in a tubular casing of moulded insulating material, to opposite ends of which are fitted insulated terminals 10, 11 connected together by a conductor 13 extending through. the former 2 and also connected to one of the foils of the condenser, the other foil being connected to a terminal on the casing. The condenser is mounted on a panel or chassis so that the end terminals are on opposite sides thereof. The casing 4 is of " Bakelite " (Registered Trade Mark) permanently closed at one end and sealed at theother by a metal disc 5 spun over a beading 6 with a gasket 7. The disc 5 is apertured to carry a mouldable insulated bush 8 with a skirt 9 into which extends the hollow former 2 carrying a wire connecting the terminals 10, 11. A wire 12 joins one foil to the terminal 10 and the other foil is connected by a wire 16 caught in spinning under the disc 5 forming the earth terminal. A panel 17 is attached to the disc 5 by bolts 19 on a ring 18 extending over the bearing 6; or the panel may be attached by a nut engaging a threaded cylindrical part of the bush 8. In Fig. 2, the casing is in two cup-like sections 22, 23 having terminals 10, 11 moulded in the closed ends and with metal beadings 24, 25 moulded in the open ends, which on assembly are welded to a metal ring 26 attached to or forming the panel. One condenser foil is attached by a wire 27 to the plate 26, and the other foil is attached by a wire 28 to the terminal 11, which is again connected by a wire 13 to the terminal 10. The condenser may comprise two superposed sections connected in series and a roll of paper 3 between the sections extends axially beyond the ends of the rolls of foil and dielectric.
