[Class 40 (v)] [Also in Group XXXVI] A condenser unit which may be used as a filter comprising a rigid main conductor, a tubular metal casing through. which 'the conductor extends insulated therefrom, a non-inductive condenser electrically connected between the conductor and the casing, in which sealing washers of, for example, cork, are provided for sealing the ends of the casing through which the conductor passes. In the example, Fig. 1, the projecting ends of the respective condenser electrodes 13, 14 are connected, the arc 13 to the conductor 10 by way of a metal washer 15, and the other 14 directly to the flanged end caps 26 of the casing 16. The ends are made tight by cork washers 18, 20, 22, 27, 30, insulating washers 21, 28 and metal washers 23, 31, the whole compressed by nuts 24, 32 on screwed ends of the main conductor. A definite series inductance may be incorporated in the construction, in one example, Fig. 7 (not shown), in the form of a strip of metal wound edgewise, the turns insulated as by paper and connected as between electrode ends 14 and the caps 26. In a further example, Fig. 8, the inductance comprises a stiff helical conductor 55, inside which is a wound condenser, the electrodes of which are connected at one end to the conductor by lead 76 and at the other to the casing by lead 75.
