Abstract

606,680. Electrical counting apparatus. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES, Ltd., and RIDLER, D. S. Sept. 14, 1945, No. 23773. [Class 106 (i)] An electrical counting-apparatus employs thermistors. A momentary depression of a key K1 through contacts RS4-6 heats the filaments H of thermistors T20 in the rings TR10, TR100, TR1000. The resistance R of T20 becomes conducting to heat the filament H of T1. The impulses to be counted open and close contacts IS so that when a key K2 is closed, these impulse cause the energization and release of relay A. When contact A1 moves to the right, T1 conducts and heats the filament of T2, the circuit through T20 being broken. When contact A1 releases, T2 conducts and heats the filament of T3, while the circuit through T1 is broken. This process repeats for each impulse, each tenth impulse rendering T19 conducting and energizing relay B which via contact B1, B2 adds one into the ring TR100, and into a register REG10. Similarly, each time the ring TR100 is completed, one is added into the ring TR1000 and into the register REG100.
