Abstract

605,990. Escapement mechanism. BENDIX AVIATION CORPORATION. Jan. 8, 1946, No. 662. Convention date, Jan. 9, 1945. [Class 80 (ii)] [Also in Groups XXIX and XXXIII] An escapement mechanism for imparting intermittent motion to a rotary distributing valve in an aircraft de-icing system as described in Group XXXIII, comprises two elements 180, 185 coupled by a spring 193 and controlled by a spring-pressed pawl 206. The cup-shaped driving member 180 engages one end 192 of the spring 193 by a pin 190 passing through a slot 198 in the driven member 185, while the other end 195 of the spring is engaged by a pin 197 on the driven member 185. A spring- pressed pawl 206 engages cam surfaces 205 on the driven member 185 holding this against the torque of the spring 193 until raised by similar but oppositely directed cam surfaces 200 on the driving member 180, so that an intermittent motion is imparted to the driven member 185. The latter is secured to a shaft 76 while the driving member is secured to a sleeve on this shaft and is driven through a worm-wheel 70.
