Abstract

605,786. Mangles and wringers. HOWELLS, H. J. June 1, 1945, No. 13805. [Classes 42(ii) and 138(ii)] A domestic wringer comprises a frame with uprights 1, 2, bridged by a horizontal member 3, the entire frame being made of reinforced concrete and each upright being provided with a metal stirrup 5, moulded therein, which serves to accommodate the stub axles 7a, 7b, of rollers 6a, .6b, which are also made of reinforced concrete. The stub axles 7a of the lower roller bear in the semi-circular portions 5b of the stirrups, whilst the upper roller 6b is urged into contact with the lower roller 6a by springs 8 acting on floating bearings 9. The upper portion of the stirrups may be partly or totally enclosed by a plate 12. The rollers are geared together by wheels 15 and rotated by a handle 14.
