Abstract

605,295. Swivelling couplings. DAVIS, J. O. and WRIGHT, C. S. Dec. 19, 1945, No; 34414. [Class 38 (i)] A device for making contact between fixed and rotating conductors includes a cage' member with angularly spaced recesses containing balls or rollers urged against the rotating member by a resilient member surrounding them. The device shown is for connecting a rotatable cable 23 having two concentric conductors to a similar but stationary cable (not shown), lead into the housing 12 at right angles to cable 23 its two conductors being connected respectively to ball races 14 and 1 respectively, the former being supported on insulators 13 and the other being at earth potential. These races house sets of balls 4 urged by garter springs 5 against sleeves 24, 26 to which the two conductors of rotary cable 23 are connected. The balls may be replaced by rollers.
