Abstract

605,043. Combing machines. WHITAKER. H. July 6, .1946, No. 20229. [Classes 120(i) and 120(ii)] Pressure regulating means for the drawing-off rollers of combing machines comprise a single spring connected to a pair of levers acting one on each end of the movable roller. The levers may be bell-crank levers 5. with their shorter ends bearing on the brasses 4 of the movable roller, and their longer arms connected by a compression spring contained in a casing 8 pivoted to the lower lever, and acting on a pull-rod 9 pivoted to the upper one. The tension of the spring is adjustable by a screwed cap 15. The pressure as between the two ends of the roller may be adjusted by varying the lengths of the arms of the bell-crank levers by means of the screws 18.
