Abstract

604,639. Frictional igniters. PICKER, L. Nov. 29, 1945, No. 32298. [Class 75(iii)] The friction wheel of a lighter and its operating wheel are joined together by a pin rigidly attached to, or integral with one wheel and connected to the other by a screwthread in such a way that the operating wheel tends to be tightened as it is rotated for normal operation. The friction wheel 6, Fig. 1, may be screwed and riveted to an axle 7, the middle portion 8 of which may be screw-threaded as at 9 to receive a fluted cylinder 12, housed in a recess 14 of the lighter. The wheel 6 may be slotted, as at 15, to allow a coin to be inserted to unscrew the wheel when it needs replacing. In an alternative form, a disc 17, Fig. 3, may be fixed to an axle screwing into friction wheel 16.
