Abstract
603,662. Treating gases with discharges. OZONAIR, Ltd., and COWELL, E. F. W. Oct. 26, 1945, No. 28388. [Class 39 (i)] A unit for use in ozonizing apparatus comprises two sheets 15, 17 of wire gauze separated by a sheet 16 of dielectric material, rolled to cylindrical form. The outer gauze 17 is confined by one or more encircling bands 18, 19 and the inner gauze 15 has its ends 15a beaded inwardly and engaged by the oppositely directed, obliquely disposed peripheries 14 of a pair of end plates 10 having screw means 20, 23, 24 engaging in apertures therein for separating said plates in an axial direction, the wedging action of peripheries 14 of the end plates 10 on the beads 15a of the gauze 15, when said plates are moved away from one another, stressing the inner gauze 15 in the axial and radial directions and establishing intimate contact between the whole of the cylindrical part of said gauze and the dielectric material 16. The end plates 10 are apertured to provide easy air flow through the apparatus.
