Abstract

Turbine buckets having high tensile strength and high corrosion-resistance when exposed to a high-temperature, high-velocity stream of combustion gases are cast of alloys consisting of cobalt 50 to 70 per cent, and chromium 20 to 40 per cent, molybdenum and/or tungsten 3 to 5 per cent, and carbon up to 0.5 per cent. The alloys may also contain silicon up to 1 per cent and manganese up to 1 per cent. A preferred composition consists of cobalt 60 to 65 per cent, chromium 28 to 32 per cent, molybdenum 5 to 7 per cent, silicon .10 to 1.0 per cent, manganese .20 to 1.0 per cent, carbon up to .50 per cent.
