Abstract
601,840. Cutting-out presses; perforating- apparatus. BOSTOCK, G. S., and SHARPLES, T. G. Oct. 5, 1945, No. 25945. [Classes 31(i) and 31(ii)] A die for a cutting-out press used for cutting-out parts of boots and shoes, which is adapted to perforate the parts with designs which can be readily varied, is constructed with a master plate 10, Figs. 1 and 7, formed with a number of holes 10c of a diameter corresponding to the internal diameter of the punches 14, and the punches are formed on a punch carrying plate 12 which is secured to the master plate 10 after a required pattern of dies has been secured to the plate 12. The plate 10 is secured to a base block 10b having a yielding connection to the pressure-plate 10a, and the plates 10, 12 are formed with registering dowels and apertures, and are secured by screws after the punches are secured to the plate 12. The pattern of punches may be produced by the aid of a paper pattern sheet, which may be used for setting up one arrangement, or may be used to produce a jig for drilling a number of plates 12 to receive punches. In a modification the plate 12 may be formed with a series of apertures identical with those on the master plate, and the punches mav be fitted therein according to the desired design. The plate 12 may he formed in two or more parts each provided with its own securing and positioning means. The block 10b is cut away at 10f to permit disposal of wastage.
