[Class 27] In apparatus wherein change coins are delivered from a container 5, and a coin detector 11 is adapted, when the container has been emptied, to close contacts 14 to bring a further container into service, the coin detector 11 is biassed, e.g. by a spring 12, to bear against the coins but is periodically moved temporarily clear of them to allow their free movement down the container. In the particular apparatus shown, coins are delivered two at a time by a reciprocating slide 1 actuated by a spring 3 under the control of a bell-crank 8 oscillated by a continuously rotating cam 10. Full movement of the slide to deliver is normally prevented by a locking catch 6 which is released by a solenoid 7 when a coin requiring change is inserted into the apparatus. At each rotation of the cam 10, whether the catch 6 is released or not, a small rearward movement from the position shown is imparted to the slide 1, and this causes a pin 1e on it to engage and rock the coin detector 11 anti-clockwise to relax its pressure on the coins. If, when released by the pin 1e, there are insufficient coins to hold the detector, it rocks further clockwise to close the contacts 14. This breaks the circuit of solenoid 7 to put the delivery mechanism out of action and also brings a further mechanism with a full supply of coins into service.
