Abstract
601,284. High-vacuum ejector apparatus. DISTILLATION PRODUCTS, Inc. Nov. 3. 1945, No. 29315. Convention date, Nov. 4, 1944. [Class 71.] A multi-stage condensation pump for obtaining a vacuum comprises a casing 10 on which are mounted conduits 34, 36 approximately perpendicular to the top of the casing. An inner casing 18 carries two pipes 42, 46 and is divided by a partition 54 into two boilers 58, 60, connected to the pipes 46, 42 respectively. The pipe 42 is fitted with a cowling 44 to provide an umbrella jet to draw gases down the conduit 34 and cooling coils 48 surround the conduit. The pipe 46 forms a non-flared low-pressure diffuser type nozzle and ejects gases through the conduit 36 which is provided cooling coils 50. A casing 20 surrounds the boilers and with the aid of a baffle 52 directs the condensed working fluid to the annular space surrounding the casing 20 where it passes through openings 70, 68 into the boiler 58 which is fitted with baffles 62 and the more volatile constituents are vaporised and the remainder flow through opening 56 to the boiler 60 that is fitted with baffles 64. Baffles 38, 40 are fitted to collect condensed working fluid.
