[Classes 96 and 140] Paper or paper-board is passed between two rolls, one or both applying a mineral coating mixture, each roll rotating with the travel of the web, and at a speed of 0.25 to 10 per cent different from it, to avoid blemishes in the coated surface and to eliminate " two-sidedness." Preferably the lower roll rotates faster, and the upper roll the same amount slower than the web, the lower roll applying the larger quantity of mixture (to the wire-marked side).
