Abstract

600,251. Thermal switches. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd., SIMS, W. J., and FELLA, J. H. Aug. 3, 1944, No. 14813. Drawings to Specification. [Class 38 (v)] The thermal switch of Specification 600,250 comprises a movable contact of magnetic material which is held attracted to the two poles of a permanent magnet forming the cooperating relatively-fixed contact until a spring carrying the movable contact is sufficiently strained, after which a quick break ensues. The surfaces of the contacts are coated with a highly conductive metal, such as silver, the fixed contact being resiliently and adjustably mounted and consisting of a disc made of an alloy of iron, nickel and cobalt with a transverse slot formed in the surface to form the poles of the magnet, and the spring being mounted on a bimetal strip. Specifications 423,897, [Group II], and 528,099 also are referred to. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 432,100.
