Abstract

600,117. Radio navigation. FRANCE, H. G. DE. Oct. 17, 1945, No. 27244. Convention date, Oct. 27, 1939. [Class 40 (vii)] A course line is defined by two radio transmitters which are spaced equally from the course-line on a line perpendicular thereto, and which transmit synchronized pulse signals on different radio frequencies. A receiving system on a craft following the course line is adapted to indicate the time delay between the receipt of pulses, this time delay being zero when the course line is being followed. The receiving system comprises either two receivers or a single receiver with a double input, the received signals being displayed on a cathode-ray tube. Instead of employing rectangular pulses for both transmissions, one may have a saw-tooth form as indicated in Fig. 3, whereby the reading of coincidence is simplified. Fig. 4 shows a further alternative form in which the separate pulses are displayed on separate traces produced by switching.
