Abstract
599,821. Making foam. NATIONAL FOAM SYSTEM, Inc. April 20, 1945, No. 9992. Convention date, Oct. 25, 1944. [Class 47 (ii)] A stream of foam which has been generated by a jet device is rendered non-turbulent before discharge by passage through a conduit which first reduces its velocity until turbulence is removed, and then increases it just before final discharge. As shown, the jet device 10 clischarges foam in a turbulent condition into a conduit comprising a section 27, an enlarged section 28 in which the stream is slowed down to remove turbulence, and a short reduced section 29 which restores the velocity of the stream to its original value just before the stream is discharged from the orifice 26. The enlarged section is fitted with a conical screen 30 to afford a resistance to the foam stream and with longitudinal vanes 31 which subdivide the stream to assist in removing turbulence.
