Abstract
598,913. Filters. GENERAL MOTORS CORPORATION. April 5, 1945, No. 8378. Convention date, April 10, 1944. [Class 46] [Also in Group XXIX] A filter 44 of frusto-conical shape and composed of sintered non-compacted metal powder is provided in a flow-restricting device for refrigeration systems. The flow restrictor proper comprises a tube 36 of copper, nickel, steel, bronze, stainless steel or the like to which is bonded a sintered mass 38 of copper-coated iron, copper-nickel alloy, copper-zinc alloy or the like, the whole being heated for half an hour or so to a temperature of 1500 F. or 1600 F. in a sintering furnace under non- oxidizing conditions. The filter 44 is formed of similar sintered material and has a flange 46 clamped between the union elements 40, 42.
