598,449. Tubular heat-exchangers. BROWN FINTUBE CO. Sept. 4, 1945, No. 22739. Convention date, Sept. 4, 1944. [Class 64 (iii)] [Also in Group XXVIII] A heat exchanger comprises inner tubes 11, 12, enclosed by outer-tubes 15, 16, each pair being joined to form hairpin tubes, and each outer tube being joined at its other end to the corresponding inner tube in the manner described in Group XXVIII; the straight portions of the inner tube have longitudinal fins 17. A return bend 13 is welded to the tubes 11, 12 to form the inner hairpin tube, and plates 28 and 31 are welded to the outer tubes 15, 16 at 29, 30 to form an outer open-ended hairpin; a flange 37 is welded to this outer tube end, and a cover plate 35, connected to the flange by means of the bolts 36, is provided. The bolt 36a is elongated so that the plate can pivot on this bolt when the tube end is opened 41 and 42 are supporting brackets.
