598,150. Machinery guards. WRIGHT, H. Aug. 31, 1945, No. 22468. [Class 80(iv)] A device for enclosing bottle washing and drying, drying, or similar machinery comprises a rigid cover provided with openings for feeding the articles to and discharging them from the machine, the cover being supported independently of the machinery and being capable of being raised and lowered as a whole without affecting the latter. As shown for a machine of the type comprising an endless conveyer feeding bottles to washing-machinery comprising jets of fluid pumped from tanks and filtered before return to the tanks, drying being effected by hot air blown over the bottles, the machine parts are mounted on a base b and are enclosed by a sheet-metal, boxshaped cover a having an opening f at each end for the conveyer, the part below each opening being bent to form a shelf h leading into the opening. The cover rests on cross-pieces k supported by uprights m on the base b, sliding doors n being provided to afford access to the machine parts. Hydraulic or other jacks are provided on the base b for lifting the cover, or lifting-tackle is connected to the cover. Control switches r are provided at the sides of the openings f.
