Abstract
597,768. Screwing die-heads. FAIRWEATHER, H. G. C. (National Acme Co.). Aug. 24, 1945, No. 21820. [Class 83 (iii)] In a die-head of the type comprising a body 3, carrying chasers 6, mounted on a shank 2 and operated by sliding an external sleeve 13 over the body, means is provided for sliding the sleeve consisting of a spring-loaded plunger 16 having an eccentric pin 17 engaging a peripheral slot 9 in the body. Rotation of the plunger in either direction shifts the sleeve axially over the body to open or close the chasers. A second peripheral slot 8 in the body may be engaged by the pin, by lifting the plunger 16, and thus allowing further relative movement of the sleeve and enabling the chasers to be removed. Extreme upward movement of the plungerallows the sleeve and body to be separated for dismantling the diehead. Specification 597,753 is referred to.
