Abstract

597,385. Tumbler switches. WALSALL CONDUITS, Ltd., and GOUGH, E. June'13, 1945, No. 13606/46. Divided out of 597,341. [Class 38(v)] A tumbler switch is provided with a snap-action mechanism comprising a member 27 having a prong 24 which slides in a slot in a plate 21 pivoted in arms extending from the dolly 16. The member 27 carries the movable contacts 30 and is pivoted at 28 in arms 18 having a limited rocking movement about the pivot pin 14. A spring 3 surrounds the prong 24. When the dolly is moved from either of its extreme positions the moving contacts are disengaged positively from the fixed contacts while the spring 3 is being compressed, the snap-action mechanism coming into operation as soon as the contacts have been separated. The pivot pin 14 is provided with an extension 35 which enters a slot in the switch base as described in Specification 597,341.
