Abstract

597,252. Relief valves. NOLAN. K. W., and NOLEX ENGINEERING CO., Ltd. June 22, 1945, No. 15958. [Class 135] A relief valve for a hydraulic system is actuated by flexure of one or more sides of a reservoir 10 subjected to the pressure in the system, the reservoir also smoothing out any pump impulses. The reservoir has an inlet 21 and an outlet (not shown), and carries a valve body 11 housing a plunger 12 provided with passages 14, 15 and loaded by a spring 19 to bear against a screwed adjusting member 13 having a relief outlet 16. Communication between the passages 14, 15 is controlled, in accordance with the pressure obtaining in the reservoir, by a stem 17 of a valve member having a foot 18 which is urged, by the spring 19, away from the plunger.
