596,917. Liquid - level pressure gauges. PALACIO, R. C. DE. March 16, 1945, No. 6691. Convention date, March 10, 1944. [Class 106 (ii)] A gauge for indicating the liquid level in a container 5 is of the mercury manometer type having one or more additional limbs 9 which are used for calibration or adjusting purposes, the limb 2, which is graduated or co-operates with a scale 4, having an extended tube 3 of smaller bore in which is a coloured liquid of lower specific gravity than the mercury. To enable the gauge to be used with containers of varying capacities the limb 9 may be compressed or enlarged to vary the initial level of the mercury, or rods or telescopic tubes 10 may be inserted into the mercury in the limb these means may be used also to adjust the initial liquid level in the tube 3 to the zero marking on the scale 4. The limb 1 has an extension tube 6 passing down to the bottom of the container 5 where it is provided with an enlargement 6<11> over which is fitted a sensitive diaphragm. The tube 6 is protected in the container 5 by a covering 6<1> of heatinsulating material. Where the pressure of air &c. in the container 5 is different from that of the atmosphere, an additional tube connects the ends of the tube 3 and limb 9 to the upper part of the container 5.
