Abstract

1,224,161. Pressure gauges. ABBIRKO INSTRUMENTS Ltd. March 15, 1968, No. 57920/66 Heading G1L. In a fluid-pressure indicating device the fluid, the pressure of which is to be measured, enters an inlet 13 and deflects a diaphragm 15 which in turn causes a liquid in a sub-chamber 18 to rise in a calibrated tube 19 to indicate the pressure. The zero position of the liquid in the tube 19 is stated to be adjusted by a screw 22 deflecting a second diaphragm 21. The device can be modified for use over different pressure ranges by providing one or more enlarged portions 24, 29 in the calibrated tube 19 and different zero settings 26, 27 and 30 on the tube 19 or chamber 11. In a further embodiment two calibration tubes are provided and have different bore diameters so that a coarse measurement of the pressure is measured in the large bore tube which is then closed at its upper open end and a fine pressure measurement is effected in the small bore tube, Fig. 8 (not shown).
