Abstract
596,562. Laces. REITER, A. July 30, 1945, No. 19532. Drawings to Specification. [Class 43] Laces for footwear consist of sections severed from a continuous band of thermoplastic material such as vinyl, vinylchloride, vinylacetate, acryl or methacryl resins. The resins may have butyl or phthalate plasticisers, and the bands may be roughened or coated with silica or clay, or rubber, lacquer or varnish. A film of barium sulphate may be produced on the band by adding a solution of barium chloride to the plastic compound before its extrusion and afterwards passing the band through diluted sulphuric acid. The band may have a textile core applied during its extrusion or two thin plastic sheets may be united to an intermediate textile layer. The laces may have circular, oval or tubular cross-sections and the lace ends are tapered on one or both sides. The laces may be grooved or ribbed by the extrusion nozzles or by surfaced rollers. According to the Provisional Specification, the band is divided into laces by saws or rollers.
