Abstract
Textile materials, bristles, foils, tubes and the like of cellulose derivatives or polyvinyl derivatives are dyed with a solution of a water-insoluble dye or dyestuff component in a tetrahydrofurane of the formula <FORM:0596264/IV/1> in which R1, R2, R3 and R4 represent hydrogen or a monovalent hydrocarbon radical. In a modification, the solution of the dye is diluted with, or dispersed in, an aqueous dyebath to which soap or other dispersing or softening agent is added. In examples: (1) a warp of threads of polyvinyl chloride is impregnated with a solution of 1,4,5,8-tetra-aminoanthraquinone in a mixture of tetrahydrofurane and alcohol; (2) a thread of cellulose acetate is impregnated at regular intervals with a solution containing 1,4,5,8 - tetra - aminoanthraquinone, o - tolyl - azo - o - toluidine, 1 - hydroxy - 4 - amino -anthraquinone, alcohol and tetrahydrofurane; (3) cellulose acetate fabric is dyed with a dispersion obtained by adding a solution of 1,4,5,8 - tetra - aminoanthraquinone in tetrahydrofurane to an aqueous soap solution; and (4) a cake of polyvinyl chloride threads is dyed with a solution of "Blue B for acetyl lacquer" dissolved in methyltetrahydrofurane.
