Abstract
Substances for use as insecticides are recovered by contacting fresh or green pyrethrum flowers with a solvent, such as kerosene or petroleum ether, that is immiscible with water, and separating the solvent from the exhausted flowers. The extraction may be carried out at substantially 54 DEG C., and the flowers may be disintegrated prior to extraction. The extracts may be concentrated.
