Abstract

595,440. Chairs. LYONS, E., TOWNSEND, G. P., and JENKINS, G. A. June 1, 1945, Nos. 13836/45 and 14290/46. [Class 52(ii)] A four-legged chair has its legs depending from the four corners of the seat and comprises a pair of side frames each having a front leg made in one piece with part of the back or each made up of two or three components, each component having one limb sustantially at right angles to one or more other limbs. Components 1 having a pair of substantially parallel limbs 2, 3 forming the front legs and parts of the back of the chair are glued to limbs 7 of L-shaped components 5 forming the back legs. Screws 10 are also inserted. Panels 11, 12 form the seat and back rest. By providing pivotal connections at X (Figs. 1, 3, 6) folding chairs may be made, those according to Figs. 1 and 6 being said to be stackable.
