Abstract
638,200. Furniture frames. LAMB, C. C. Feb. 23, 1949, No. 4945. [Class 52 (ii)] A chair &c. is constructed by moulding, pressing or like operation from a single sheet of metal, plywood, or plastic, &c. so that identical chairs &c. may be stacked. As shown in Fig. 1, the chair comprises a back 1. seat 2 and rear and front legs 3, 4 together with arms 5 if desired. The front part of the seat 2 is bent downwardly and gapped at 6 to form front-legs 4 and apron 4a. The rear legs 3 are formed, from marginal strips of the seat 2 and form an extension of the back 1 while the arms 5 are bent up from strips forming margins of the back 1. The spacing between the rear legs 3 is somewhat greater than the overall width of the seat 2 and front legs 4 while the spacing between the arms 5 is somewhat greater than the overall width of the rear legs 3 so that identical chairs may be stacked. One of the arms 5 may be formed as a table if desired. Fig. 5 shows a chair also suitable for stacking in which the front and rear legs, arms and cross members 7 form side frames for the chair, the members 7 being curved to serve as rockers.
